This past week was one that I achieved one of my biggest milestones in this ISM journey - finally getting a mentor!
I had my mentor meeting with Mrs. Rashmi Varma exactly last week, but I didn't get the chance to update yet. We started it out as any other meeting, with me asking a few more deeper-level questions. As I shifted the conversation towards mentoring, Mrs. Varma was at first slightly hesitant about the program and committing to a mentorship, but after informing her a little more about it, she agreed. I let her know all about the program, winter showcase (which we will not be having), and original work and final presentations. I sent out the official email, to which Mr. Pirtle welcomed her, and she filled out mentor registration and had a few kind words to say.
Speaking of original work, we are now reaching that point in the year where we do research and start on our projects. Since I am doing one involving creating a cruelty-free cosmetic line, the first step for me to do is research, research, research. This week is when our first original work assessment is due, so I had just started today to do some basic level digging into some articles as research.
Overall, now that I have a mentor, I am really excited to start moving onto the next chapter for the ISM journey, which is original work. My idea is one that I have lots of passion for, so I am very stoked to see how it plays out. Until next time, see you!
